On December 16, the Closing Ceremony of 2014 ASEAN-China Cultural Exchange Year was held at 2nd Myanmar International Convention Centre in Nay Pyi Taw, capital city of Myanmar. H.E.Mr. Li Yuanchao, Vice President of China and H.E.Mr. Nyan Tun, Vice President of Myanmar attended the Closing and delivered speeches. About 1000 audiences from all walks of life of Myanmar were present the event. On the Closing, the artists from China and the ten ASEAN Member States presented a stage of splendid cultural performances displaying colorful arts and culture of China and ASEAN. Secretary-General Ma Mingqiang led a ACC group attend the Closing Ceremony.
2014 is the ASEAN-China Cultural Exchange Year. Since its open, a series of cultural activities under the theme “Our Culture, Our Future” have been conducting vigorously between China and ASEAN. As a sole inter-governmental organization of China and ASEAN Member States, promoting ASEAN-China cultural exchanges and cooperation is one of its important responsibilities. In 2014, ACC highlighted the “ASEAN-China Cultural Exchange Year” by co-organizing series of cultural activities with the Ministries of Culture of China and ASEAN Member States, and other relevant agencies between China and ASEAN. ACC co-sponsored and facilitated Chinese cultural troupes to perform in ASEAN countries as well as organized and took part in other activities such as movie star fans meeting, exhibitions, seminars, workshops, forum, cultural tours with the aim at promoting ASEAN cultures among the Chinese public and the Chinese culture among the ASEAN communities. The projects were implemented not only to feature the uniqueness of each Member’s rich culture but also to raise the awareness of each other’s understanding, which made great contribution to the success of the significant year and promoting the people to people exchanges and enhancing friendship between China and ASEAN.
